Eight countries in the Southern Africa region successfully completed and presented land governance scoping studies in Windhoek, Namibia (September 2019).


Transcontinental short course promotes land governance skill strengthening

SLGA, through its Network of Excellence on Land Governance in Africa (NELGA) program, in collaboration with its partner the African Land Policy Centre (ALPC), brought together 41 participants from 16 West African countries in Accra, Ghana this month (Sept. 2019).


East African academia convenes to discuss land governance issues.

The eastern African NELGA node, Ardhi University co-organized with the Eastern Africa Land Administration Network (EALAN) Conference in Zanzibar, Tanzania (16-July 2019). Academics in the eastern Africa region gathered to share country experiences, research findings and engage in policy dialogue sessions.


Francophone West Africa NELGA Hub launched

The francophone West Africa NELGA Hub was launched at a meeting held between 3-7 December 2018 hosted by the NELGA Node, Université Gaston Berger in Saint-Louis, Senegal. The launch was followed by a three-day training that brought together academics, trainers and other relevant stakeholders in the land sector for a joint interactive learning on innovative concepts, tools and practices in land governance.

Study tour to Germany for NELGA partners and representatives of African ministries

A delegation of 15 members of academia from the Network of Excellence on Land Governance in Africa (NELGA), as well as African national ministries, gathered in Germany in September 2018 for a Study Tour focused on Land Governance.

“Promoting Responsible Land Administration in East Africa and the Great Lakes Region” —the 10th East African Land Administration Network Conference

During the 3rd quarter of this year, academics in the East African sub-region gathered in Kampala, Uganda, to exchange country experiences, ideas, and research findings. The 10th Eastern Africa Land Administration Network (EALAN) was held between 23rd to 25 July 2018, under the theme “Promoting Responsible Land Administration in East Africa and the Great Lakes Regions.” The network is devoted to providing a platform for academics and partners engaged in education, research and training pertaining to land administration to exchange ideas, experiences, and knowledge.
